The Canary Islands or the Canaries, are a Spanish archipelago located off the Moroccan southern coast. This paradisiac group of islands has a wonderful climate all year round and tourists can enjoy a constant mild temperature. It consists of 7 larger islands - Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, La Palma, Tenerife, Fuerteventura, La Gomera and El Hierro, and some smaller ones - Roque del Este, Alegranza, Graciosa, Roque del Oeste, Montaña Clara and Lobos.

As a contrast, there are also astonishing barren flatlands bordering Tenerife’s El Teide, the color laden lava fields of Lanzarote and the beautiful, endless plains of Fuerteventura, which feature varieties of cactus, scrubs and a ton of goats!
The high mountains also make for ideal astronomical observation, and 2 professional observatories have been built - Teide Observatory in Tenerife and Roque de los Muchachos Observatory in La Palma.
Apart from the astonishing landscapes, tourists will also have the luxury of enjoying art and architecture on the islands. You can see typical vernacular Canarian architecture with wooden balconies, brightly painted porticos and leafy internal patios all over. For art, don’t miss the paintings by Óscar Domínguez and sculptures by locals Martín Chirino and César Manrique.
For relaxation, tourists can visit beaches with soft sandy dunes in Fuerteventura or the wide expanse of golden sands in Tenerife. Or take advantage of the sunny days with some outdoor activities like hiking, scuba diving and surfing, kite surfing and windsurfing, as well as long camel rides, horse treks, rounds of golf, and boat rides.
